Important Information for Breeders
I'm comfortable with live cover. How does Artificial Insemination (AI) work? Frozen semen?
All of our living stallions are available through fresh chilled semen. We do not offer any live cover. First and foremost, the safety concerns for our gents and your ladies are too great, especially when artificial insemination is such a streamlined process. The most important factor to successful use of both chilled and frozen semen is the competence and experience of your veterinarian. Interpreting ultrasounds and determining a covering schedule are the best guarantees for pregnancy. The semen you receive will have been analysed and prepared specifically to each stallion. We have been breeding by AI for almost two decades and have never looked back. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions.
What does Class 1 mean? How does this affect where and how I register my foal?
In Great Britain, effective 2011 for stallions:
CLASS 1 (C1): Stallions that meet the veterinary and inspection requirements. Class 1 stallions are eligible for additional merits (Gold, Silver and Bronze) based on their own performance and their progeny’s performance in a number of disciplines. Stallions that were previously classified as ‘RID’ are classified in this class.
In short, the inspection process comprises: a vigorous veterinarian inspection including radiographs and assesment of conformation, movement and athleticism (executed through loose schooling and a jumping lane).
